Confronted with the problem of not knowing what to do when asked for assistance on the street, we're creating a way to give in seconds without having to carry a dollar on hand.
We're building low-cost, low-energy bluetooth wristbands called "beacons" and are distributing them to nonprofit shelters. The nonprofits issue these beacons to individuals in need. Citygoers who have our app will then receive a push notification when they pass by or meet one of the individuals, with the option to give $1 or more.
Funds from the wristband can be redeemed at a partnered merchant and agency for a service the individual needs to advance their life, such as a workshop or class, a clean haircut, dental or vision correction, as well as basic needs.
