compileHer Hackathon

Every year compileHer hosts an 8-hour event that lasts over one or two days and invites middle school girls from across the city of Chicago to learn about computer science in a fun and interactive way. In past years, we have hosted hackathons for different topics, including , where the girls designed mobile applications, greenHer, where they designed technology for a greener future, dreamHer, and superpowHer. At these events the girls are presented to by keynote speakers and are involved in workshops so that they can leave with greater knowledge and confidence in their ability to be involved in computer science. The details, itinerary, and photo galleries from our previous hackathons can be seen under the "Events" tab of our website. In 2020 and 2021, over 100 girls attended our annual hackathons. For our 2022 hackathon, we will be back in person and will again host many middle school girls.
