I would like to do a project with my students, grades 2 through 5 based on Rube Goldberg's devices. I would like to read the book and watch historical videos on him and then have the students design a machine using the Design Engineering Process to find a solution for a real-world problem. They would be sketching out their designs first and then creating the machine. My students would be critically thinking about the importance of machines in their life and thinking of innovative solutions to make life easier.
