A Mime For Every Park

Our parks are lacking engagement. I want to bring awareness to our shared places and allow folks to take back the public commons. This isn't such an issue in San Francisco where parks are lively and well occupied but in Santa Rosa, where homes are spread out and likely have backyards, there isn't much to bringing folks together for no other reason than being in the same shared space without commerce. I am not doing this project through our nonprofit because I want this to feel spontaneous and random. This project is in tandem with a couple other artists to encourage people to visit their green spaces. We have some covert picnic promotions, silent book club gatherings, and free sketchbook club activities. This will be ongoing throughout the year as weather permits.
Yes, we all know that mimes fell out of favor and were ridiculed as obnoxious by the testosterone bros of the Yuppie era. Luckily those folks are probably too old to swing a punch and there are whole generations of people yet to be annoyed. Please let us do that for them, ya know, for fun.

I don't have a website set up for this and probably won't do one so I've linked the website for an organization I work with doing large community engagement projects.

I haven't done this project yet so I don't have any photos, and shockingly I was unable to find a mime to take a picture of. So I've included the tennis team from the 1966 movie Blow Up.
