Music & Art for Purpose

Music & Art for Purpose is a new performance-based program dedicated to using the arts to build bridges, strengthen communities, and inspire meaningful dialogue. We know from experience that music, theater, and dance are among the most powerful tools for human connection. The arts transcend politics and personal differences; they speak directly to the heart, spark empathy, and motivate social change.
With this program, we will collaborate with local and regional theater companies, musicians, and dancers to create original, socially relevant performances. Our ensemble-based approach will bring together seasoned artists and emerging young voices, inviting inter-generational participation at every step. Through workshops, rehearsals, and performances, participants will learn from one another, exchange perspectives, and experience the joy of creating something together.
Each performance will be designed to be thought-provoking, dynamic, and accessible drawing audiences into conversations about community, compassion, and the shared human experience. Whether someone joins as a performer, musician, dancer, or audience member, they will leave not only entertained but inspired to learn more. The first project of Music & Art for a Purpose is a series dedicated to using the arts as a means of building and strengthening community. We began with our efforts at our Juneteenth celebration and even hosted a fun Night of Improv in early July. But now we are pleased to announce the official launch of this series as we introduce Mondays with Meaning. The second of two projects under this program are Frank Cloke & Friends, a jazz band performing and teaching at the same time. A chance for the audience of both community people and students to learn how jazz works and give students and community members a chance to join the house band on stage. We will meet the first Wednesday of each month at the CommUnity Zone.
