Pride in the Sky

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 4–10 PM, Friends of the Walkway, in partnership with Big Gay Hudson Valley, will proudly present the second annual Pride in the Sky at Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. This free, public celebration centers LGBTQ+ joy, identity, and visibility in one of the Hudson Valley’s most iconic and accessible public spaces.

With over 3,500 attendees in its inaugural year and more expected in 2025, Pride in the Sky transforms the bridge into a vibrant gathering place for the queer community and allies from across the region. The event features LGBTQ+ organizations, drag and DJ performances, and a powerful procession of a 900-foot section of the original 8-color Pride flag. New this year is the debut of a 125-foot-long Trans Pride flag—raising visibility for the transgender community and continuing its journey at Pride events nationwide.

Pride in the Sky also includes daytime programming: a morning Fun Run on the bridge, free tours of the Clearwater (reimagined as “Queerwater”) with Drag Story Time, the Proud Pet Paw-rade, live music from Minorikeys, and pop-up performances along the span. The 2025 Queer Adventure Guide & Map, developed with Dutchess and Ulster Tourism, will launch at the event, along with the return of the I LOVE NY Pride-themed sculpture.

Hosting Pride in a state park affirms LGBTQ+ belonging in civic spaces. It fosters inclusion, community, and healing, especially for those who don’t always feel seen in public life.

More than a celebration, Pride in the Sky is a statement of solidarity and a beacon of hope at a critical moment for LGBTQ+ rights.
