Boulafolk

Boulafolk is a piece of unorthodox participatory invisible theater and a mythopoetic social experiment in which a new breed of folkloric creature “washes ashore” in six coastal cities, destabilizing cultural norms through mischief and opening fertile, imaginative space for the public to reshape those norms through the experience of a “living myth.” In a slow cascade of guerilla performances, the Boulafolk emerge in disparate locales, resurrecting the spirit of the archetypal trickster by resisting the social and behavioral norms in each place. The performances evoke the sense of a sea-based "living myth" wherein the audience become creative agents in the reshaping of those cultural norms that govern their milieu.
