Ottawa in Colour

April’s Awesome Ottawa award goes to Jason Cobill and Maxime Gauthier-Kwan, to support the development of an adult colouring book showcasing Ottawa through the eyes of local artists.

“The artists will have total creative control in choosing the aspects of Ottawa that they think are most beautiful,” explains Jason. “The book will cover some of the standard tourist highlights like Parliament Hill and the Rideau Falls, but the drawings will also reflect the artists’ pride in their neighbourhoods, as well as festivals, green spaces, and favourite hangout spots.”

“"We've assembled an amazing group of artists to work on the book,” says Maxime. “Members of a local urban sketch group, animators, illustrators, comic book artists, and more. The drawings so far are really incredible and we're so excited to show them off.”

You can follow progress on the book, which Jason and Maxime are calling Ottawa in Colour, at ottawaincolour.com, as well as on Twitter and Facebook. They expect to have it in stores before Canada Day.

Jason and Maxime are web professionals at the University of Ottawa.
