Second Annual Nostalgia Pride Cookout

Our awesome project is our Second Annual Nostalgia Pride Cookout. Our Nostalgia Pride Cookout gives us an opportunity to commune with the Black queer community in honest during the very special month of pride. It is a time for our board members and community members to rest, enjoy, and be in community.

There have been many attacks on the Trans, LGBTQ, and Black communities as of late such as bans on trans* folks fundamental documents such as licenses , the attacks and targeting from ICE, and police brutality just to name a few.It is of upmost importance to continue cultivating spaces where we can be free, express ourselves, and commune together even if it is just for one day. Although we do host multiple events throughout the year, the Nostalgia Pride Cookout is our biggest event to date.

Last year, we hosted at the Jim Toy Center in Ann Arbor and we had over 70 attendees and over 100 RSVPs. At the Nostalgia Pride Cookout, we offer free food, entertainment, games, and community. We understand the impact that joy can have on the spirit and community. This year our Nostalgia Pride Cookout is on June 27 at the Growing Hope Farm Stand in Ypsilanti. We are super excited to be putting on our event in Ypsilanti and welcoming everyone into our space.
