Food to share (working title)

My Awesome project is to start an annual event that aims to address the issue of food insecurity in the County. The project would facilitate the provision of some home cooked food as well as raise interest in the issue. The plan is to announce in the spring that in the fall there will be a day on which church and community kitchens will be open for the preparation of food for the food bank and that now is the time to grow food for the project.

The date in the fall would be a friendly competition between the different groups to produce as much food to be frozen as possible.

Having spoken to the Picton food bank they have told me that some of their clients have said they would participate if there was ever a cooking day at the Picton United Church. I would like the event to bring together I a diverse group that includes people who use the food bank.

The Athol recreation Committee the Hillier Recreation Committee and the Picton united church have both agreed that they would like to participate and I am confident that there would be interest from different groups around the County in particular the different recreation committees.

The food bank assured me that they could handle all the food in their freezers if they were aware of the date.

The food must be stored in a new containers in order to be accepted by the Food banks.
