Fireside Tales Series is a special presentations of interactive oral folklore performances to the family audiences within Nairobi City and it's environs. The repertoire of presentations consist largely of re-devised tales collected from within the larger Eastern Africa communities. Often, the performances are built around contemporary topical issues as seen from traditional Knowledge perspectives. This program provides urban folks with creative opportunities to participate in recreating the well-known traditional evening fireside moments of wisdom sharing.
Fireside Tales is a story-theater practice whose inspiration in form, method approach is specific to African oral traditions albeit with conscious infusion of contemporary theatrical creative elements. The envisaged content would be informed by our own research and reflection on the current socio-political dynamics and issues specific to contemporary Kenyan situation
