Community Quilts

We want to keep community members in Kingston happy, warm and safe through our sewing!

We want to keep our veterans warm.
We want to keep our unhoused citizens warm.
We want to keep our dementia patients stimulated with activity quilts.
We want to make more quilts for vulnerable newborns.
We want to keep elderly citizens involved in a productive project.
We want to reduce loneliness by gathering together to sew.
We want to show we care.

We have teams of members who meet weekly to sew (and then continue working at home). These quilters not only sew quilts, placemats and fidget quilts but they also put together kits for quilts to be made by other members who cannot make the weekly meetings.

*Being the successful group will instantly help us restore some dignity to vulnerable and marginalized citizens in Kingston as well as protect them physically from the elements of a cold winter.

*Being the winning pitch will help us put activity/touch quilts into the hands of memory care patients to reduce anxiety and provide sensory and tactile stimulation.

*Being chosen as recipients of a grant from the Awesome Foundation will put smiles on the faces of so many people here in Kingston, from patients to front line workers to babies and their parents to quilters. And smiles on faces is a great goal!

We will of course acknowledge the Awesome Foundation as a sponsor of our work on our group website and thank you publicly when we donate our quilts.
