We're excited that our June grant has been awarded to The Jungle Festival, a dynamic musical experience that mixes DJ and live musicianship in an electric jam while showcasing New York's emerging talent with an artist showcase. Since 2023, they have provided a platform for 70+ musicians sharing original music ranging from indie rock to classical and experimental jazz, what they like to call AFRO JAZZ!

This past July 4th, the folks behind The Jungle put together their first ever free Jungle Festival at Sleepwalk in Bushwick, featuring several artists original performances along with a DJ and major jam session at the end.

In their own words: "For many of our younger (and older) musicians we have connected with - a chance to play at The Jungle and create their own set has been a first. We see musicians who have just been friends come together to create music and go on to collaborate simply because they had the opportunity and safety to just BE at The Jungle. The jam session is one of the most freeing, fun, experiences for true collaboration to happen. Nowadays, nightlife is about posturing, what you wear, and acting cool. The Jungle is a safe, free space to let go and get free. The Jungle Festival will be that and more because it welcomes the community and inspires creative release.
