The Mae Fellowship

Early in 2020, I started a writing incubator called The Mae Fellowship, a working cohort of writers with the goals of bouncing ideas off each other for critical feedback, build support and camaraderie, and help each other achieve her writing goals for 2020 and beyond. Moreover, The Mae Fellowship is a year long, virtual program inspired by the life, light and legacy of Lula Mae Leonard Young, my mother. Furthermore, I also provide a diverse cohort of female and non binary writers with professional and financial resources to finish their first book.

As a part of the program, writers are also given access to intimate virtual conversations with award winning authors like:Tiffany Haddish, Gabourey Sidibe, Sister Helen Prejean, Clint Smith, Viet Thahn Nguyen, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Krista Tippett, Helen MacDonald, Claudia Rankine, Marilynne Robinson, Sigrid Nunez, Maaza Mengiste, Karen Russell, Meg Wolitzer, Sarah Perry, Francisco Cantu, Bryan Washington, Hernan Diaz, Tom Perrotta, Julia Phillips, Tayari Jones, Priya Parker, Lisa Ko, Idra Novey, Jia Tolentino, Courtney Maum, Fiona McCrae, Jami Attenberg, Cathy Park Hong, Brit Bennett, Jessica B. Harris, Weike Wang, Megha Majumdar, Claire Messud, Kiese Laymon, Aimee Bender, Nafissa Thompson-Spires, and Emily Nemens.
