Acknowledgment Committee

This is an interactive public art campaign to bring about connection and presence to the experience of living in the city of San Francisco. The Acknowledgment Committee is a performance art troupe comprised of queer people of color who call San Francisco and the larger Bay Area home. In response to the tech-induced gentrification and the erasure of historic Black and Brown, poor and queer communities, members of the Acknowledgment Committee challenge the status quo by literally saying, "Hello." "We want to live in a place where people acknowledge one another on the street. That's All." These are the words that will appear on leaflets, buttons, t-shirts, tote bags, posters, stickers, and other handmade resources that will be distributed around the city for free as part of the Acknowledgment Committee's weekly public service announcements.
