Endometriosis affects women, teen girls, and preteen girls everyday. They suffer silently, and have to diminish debilitating pain to "bad cramps" to solicit even just a little sympathy for their chronic condition.
As the reigning Ms. Black Florida, USA my platform is to bring more awareness, concern, and resources to those dealing with this condition. It affects our lives and the lives of those around us, but most just don't understand. It leaves us feeling alone, unsupported, and embarrassed.
I hope that with having a day dedicated to teaching, learning, celebration and support that our community (and even beyond) can stop for a moment to understand their mothers, wives, daughters, nieces, sisters, and even classmates' and coworkers' pain.
