Books are wonderful, yet literacy is not only found through books. At the Alsip-Merrionette Park Public LIbrary we encourage, affirm and explore with our staff and patrons, the many pathways to lifelong learning. Hands-on exploration, especially with kids and families, leads to serendipitous results. Our many adventures have led us to the final frontier of sewing. Sewing skills, sewing quilts, sewing art, understanding construction and fabric building and the creative joy that accompanies a new medium and technique.are the goals. We hope to hold hands-on classes for children, children and parents, teens and adults and even circulate a machine or two. We hope to showcase the results of our talented kids in a mini-art show of textile hangings.
