Our project is a night time farmers market that we just launched in the heart of the city at La Villita. We want to provide the city with a central hub that gives access to healthy, affordable produce and different cultural food options. We welcome urban and rural farmers to sell their produce at our market and are able to take food stamp cards. We provide the community as well as visitors with an array of international foods such as:Mediterranean, Ethiopian, Native American, Puerto Rican, Latin Fusion and authentic Mexican. We intend on adding Brazilian, Indian and Hawaiian foods to the market later in the season. In addition, we provide a space for artists to showcase their handmade products. We have a handmade sandal maker, vintage clothing, paper mache Mexican influenced artwork, apron maker, jewelry artists and soap makers. we would like to feature different entertainment acts like Bollywood dance, Brazilian Capoeira,Ballet Folklorico, Flamenco and even break dancing but would like to be able to pay entertainment. We have free health screenings and fitness classes sponsored by the Metro Health Mobile Fit Van. We provide a funk disco zumba class. There are also several services such as threading, henna. massage and bike repair. If Seniors want to attend and need assistance in shopping for produce or need help taking items to their cars we have personal shoppers and assistants to help them. (College Volunteers) We are a family friendly and pet friendly event.
