Offsite School Sports
PCYC Cessnock delivers offsite school sport programs to local primary schools across the Hunter, travelling up to an hour to reach schools that would otherwise miss out. Many of these schools are in regional and disadvantaged communities where access to quality sport programs is limited. Our program provides structured, engaging activities led by qualified PCYC coaches, building physical fitness, teamwork, confidence, and positive connections with Police and community role models.
In 2025 alone, we worked with schools including Milbrodale, Nulkaba, Cessnock West, St Paul’s Rutherford, and Broke Public, running weekly sessions for 4–7 weeks per term. Previous years saw us support over 10 additional schools, but due to limited staffing, vehicles, and outdated equipment we have had to turn many down. The demand is strong, schools value our program as affordable, reliable, and community-focused, while families appreciate that children are given opportunities they otherwise would not have.
New equipment will allow us to rebuild the program, expand reach, and ensure every child has access to quality sporting experiences. By taking sport directly to schools, we remove barriers of cost, transport, and distance, ensuring no child misses out. This project is awesome because it creates joy, builds healthier habits, fosters inclusion, and strengthens community spirit, delivered right where it’s needed most.
