The HungreeApp:Zero Food Waste/Feeding Communities

The HungreeApp is a multilingual, real-time platform that redistributes surplus edible food from individuals, restaurants, and businesses to nearby people—cutting methane emissions, reducing hunger, and reconnecting communities. Our platform empowers neighborhoods to form public or private “Villages”—hyperlocal food-sharing networks where users can offer, request, or sponsor food. With a tap, waste becomes relief, and relief builds resilience.
We’ll use this grant to supercharge our conservation-focused tools. We’re expanding into high-waste cities like Lagos, Nairobi, and several in California—supporting new Villages with food rescue campaigns, compost education, and local events. We’re launching app-based sustainability challenges and translating our climate literacy content into underserved languages. We’ll also grow our HungreeFreeWorld initiative—a global movement mobilizing volunteers to host zero-waste events, deliver food, and build circular communities.
In 2024, we hosted HungreesGiving events in Denver and Colombia, distributing hundreds of meals and sparking regional action. Now, with your support, we’ll scale that impact. Every meal claimed on HungreeApp prevents emissions and builds trust. Every listing conserves natural resources and builds climate justice. Our goal? Zero edible food waste. Thriving ecosystems. Stronger communities—powered by compassion and tech.
This effort aligns with UN SDGs—Zero Hunger, Climate Action, and Responsible Consumption. We're in talks with governments and schools to adopt the app as a climate tool. We’ll track our expansion with stories and data to shape future research and policy on food systems and sustainability.
