Litlando

The Literary Arts Council of Central Florida (LACCF) is a nonprofit dedicated to cultivating a thriving literary ecosystem that strengthens, connects, heals, and inspires. As part of our demonstration projects we are looking to host the 34th Annual Southern Fried Open Slam Poetry festival in June 2026, the first time Orlando has hosted this national event; we are currently running a #ReviveZora campaign to renew interest in local writing legend Zora Neal Hurston; and lastly, we have developed an interactive literary map of Orlando, community calendar, and are creating a community catalog to help create more awareness and connectivity between the different literary siloes within the city of Orlando and surrounding Metro area. According to local lore, Judge Spear named Orlando after a character in Shakespeare’s As You Like It—making us perhaps the only city named after a character in a play. We aim to harness that spirit to reimagine Orlando as “the city as you like it,” where writers and readers can live the stories they dream.
