The Creative Box Project

The Creative Box Project is a 6-week art education initiative that empowers children ages 7–12 through creativity, self-expression, and community. Hosted once a week at one of six Orange County Public Library branches, the program provides weekly curated art boxes filled with quality materials, themed prompts, and positive affirmations designed to boost confidence and encourage emotional growth.

Each week, participants engage in guided group sessions led by teaching artist Dafeney Josue, where they explore new art techniques, learn the fundamentals of art and build supportive connections with peers. The program culminates in a community showcase at the Downtown Orlando Library, celebrating the children’s artwork and voices.

By combining accessible art education with affirming mentorship, The Creative Box Project nurtures the next generation of creative thinkers and demonstrates how art can be a powerful tool for resilience, self-discovery, and joy. This project makes Orlando more awesome by giving children an inspiring, hands-on opportunity to explore art, connect with their community, and experience the delight of seeing their creativity come to life.
