Community Mobility & Connect Program

To support vulnerable community members (stroke survivors) by reducing social isolation, improving emotional wellbeing, and building capacity, mobility and engagement in the local and broader community through a Community Mobility & Connect program at our Barwon Stroke Support Centre.

A structured and supported program to increase member public travel skills, in turn improving independence, capacity to become more mobile and increased access to services within the local and broader community.

The program will be facilitated by the Barwon Centre Coordinator, as well as volunteers to provide additional support on day trips, including:
- Supported V-Line day trips from Geelong to Melbourne for programmed activities in Melbourne, such as a trip to Sea Life Melbourne (Aquarium).
- Supported bus ride to the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre.
- Public transport education sessions at McHarry’s Buslines depot (Geelong) and education sessions with Travellers Aid (Melbourne).

The Awesome Foundation Geelong supported this awesome program with a grant of $700.
