I will lead an exterior mural camp for Ypsilanti youth in collaboration with a locally owned Latin restaurant. Over the course of the camp, students will develop leadership skills, practice mindfulness, and engage in collaborative problem solving as they design and install a large-scale mural for a family-owned small business. The camp will conclude with a closing celebration where students, families, and friends gather to honor the work and witness what young people can accomplish when given meaningful opportunities.

I have secured partial funding for this project from the restaurant owners, and a small grant through CultureSource. I have also been in conversation with Communities in Schools (Ypsilanti) and Washtenaw Alliance for Virtual Education to identify students who may benefit from the mural camp.

I have been leading mural camps in Lansing, MI since 2021. I moved to Southeast Michigan 3 years ago and have been working to get a mural camp funded for students in this region with little traction, until this year.
