Starlight ArteSana
Starlight ArteSana is a ceramic painting workshop that brings families, students, and school community members together through a shared creative experience that is welcoming, collaborative, and accessible to all skill levels. By creating a relaxed, hands-on environment, participants have the opportunity to connect across ages and backgrounds—parents working alongside children, classmates supporting one another, and neighbors engaging in meaningful conversation. The act of making art together encourages patience, self-expression, and mutual encouragement, all of which foster kindness and compassion.
The workshop also creates space for participants to reflect on themes of care and community. As individuals design and paint their ceramic pieces, they are encouraged to share ideas, offer help, and celebrate each other’s work. This process builds confidence in young people while strengthening relationships between families and the school community. Finished pieces serve as lasting reminders of shared experience and connection.
Our intended audience is students and their families at Starlight Elementary, with an estimated reach of approximately 100 participants. The impact extends beyond the workshop itself, as participants bring their experiences home and into their broader networks, strengthening community ties throughout the County. By centering creativity, inclusion, and shared experience, this project contributes to strengthening connection and support for communities that are historically marginalized in Santa Cruz County.
