The St. Paul Pop-Up Cinema Project

Congratulations to our July 2026 grantee. This project will create an awesome community event.

“The St. Paul Pop-Up Cinema Project" is a lightning-fast, highly visible public art event designed to celebrate the neighborhoods of St. Paul through beautiful visual storytelling. On Friday, August 21, 2026, our creative team will transform an empty public park wall into a vibrant, free community outdoor theater for one night only.

Over a focused two-week period prior, we will use our high-end cinema equipment to shoot and edit three 2-minute micro-documentaries spotlighting local St. Paul unsung heroes—a neighborhood street artist, a beloved community gardener, and a local youth mentor.

This is is a pure community celebration. We’ll project these gorgeous, broadcast-quality stories onto a massive wall, bringing neighbors together under the stars to share in public joy and localized pride. To keep the momentum alive after the event, we will place small, weather-proof plaques featuring interactive QR codes at the filming locations so passersby can scan and stream these beautiful neighborhood stories all year round. It’s brief, highly impactful, visually stunning, and entirely free for the community.”
