Trade on Wheels is a mobile, community-driven initiative designed to bring essential trade skills, education, and support directly to regional and underserved communities across Australia.

At its core, the project responds to two growing challenges: the shortage of skilled trades in regional areas and the lack of accessible pathways for young people to explore hands-on careers. Through a fully equipped mobile unit, Trade on Wheels delivers practical workshops, live demonstrations, and introductory training in plumbing and other trades, meeting people where they are rather than expecting them to travel.

Beyond education, the initiative also provides subsidised and, in some cases, free essential plumbing services to vulnerable households and community facilities. From fixing urgent issues to improving access to safe water systems, the project directly contributes to health, safety, and dignity in everyday living.

Trade on Wheels is about more than trades, it is about creating opportunity, restoring confidence, and building stronger, more resilient communities. By combining skills development with tangible community impact, the project creates a pathway for young people to see a future in trades while ensuring no community is left behind when it comes to essential services.

The Awesome Foundation funding will support the early delivery of Trade on Wheels by enabling them to run the first pilot workshop in a regional community.

Funds will be used to purchase essential materials and tools required for hands-on demonstrations, ensuring participants can engage in practical, skills-based learning.
