Resonances on the Water

I’m creating Resonances on the Water, a participatory sound and poetry performance along the St. Lawrence River in Montréal. The project invites audiences to listen to and reflect on the river’s shifting soundscape—its natural rhythms, industrial echoes, and human stories—through a series of short performances and recordings that blend clarinet, spoken word, and field sound.

Each performance transforms a public riverside space into a listening site. Audiences will be given small audio recorders or QR access to short sound pieces that merge archival river sounds, poetry, and live music. The goal is to reawaken our connection to water not just as a resource, but as a living presence with memory and voice.

The project will culminate in a one-day outdoor event with invited musicians and writers, followed by the release of a short digital EP featuring recordings made along the river. It combines artistic expression, environmental awareness, and community participation, creating a shared experience that resonates beyond the performance itself.

By reimagining the St. Lawrence as an instrument and storyteller, Resonances on the Water encourages audiences to listen deeply—to sound, to the environment, and to one another.
