OpenDoorClimate
Solving climate change is not a financial or technology problem that needs to be solved, it's a people problem. Millions of people want to use their job to fight climate change, but that pathway to do so is incredibly confusing and exclusive. Roles, skills, networks are all unclear and feel inaccessible for someone that wants to work on climate.
OpenDoorClimate is a project to make climate career networking more accessible for everyone. It is a grassroots movement of active climate professionals that are making themselves publicly available to chat with anyone interested in working on climate issues. We are trying to help people overcome the top barrier to getting a climate job: lack of network or connections in the climate career space. And we're doing that with the most simple solution, by finding time to talk - human-to-human.
What started as a simple hashtag on a LInkedIn post, has grown into a global movement of thousands of climate professionals implementing an open door policies, and holding over 50,000 chats with people interested in climate work. Conversations have led to jobs, companies being started, and even friendships forming. We need more people working on climate and we, as climate professionals, can help with just a short chat.
