DC Youth to Flint

DC Youth Leaders from Black Swan Academy (BSA) are heading to Flint, Michigan to hand deliver 400 cases of water and wipes to families and children. . During their active investment in a Civic Leadership out-of-school time program, youth identified lack of clean water in low-income communities a problem and led efforts to find partners, collect water donations and now, arrange for a road trip to support the residents of Flint. We at BSA, believe community service and advocacy such as this allows our youth to find their greater purpose in this world and births positive life outcomes. With your help, 20 young people will travel to Flint, April 29th-May 1st with water and the will to stand in solidarity with the local organizers and residents.

With DC residents experiencing similar conditions with their water not too long ago, once we return, youth will canvass low-income neighborhoods in DC to inform residents of Home Water Quality and distribute Lead Testing Kits.
