The applied skills students are learning how to cook independently and improving their communication skills. They are cooking for staff every Friday to help improve this skill. As they cook they are learning how to safely use kitchen equipment such as knifes, the stove, and oven. Every Thursday they go around with a menu and take orders from staff. Once they have the orders they make up a grocery list and walk to the local grocery store to buy the supplies. On Thursday afternoons they prep the food for Friday. Friday morning they prepare the meal and hand deliver it to staff at lunch time.
