“Sir Dragon’s Animal Kingdom” Children’s Book
Author/artist Modern Man (who was voted “Best Local Artist” by the “High Plains Reader” on two occasions) passed away this year, and he left behind an unfinished children’s book that he had been working on for many years titled “Sir Dragon’s Animal Kingdom.” It tells the story of how Sir Dragon breaks out of the role that he’s expected to play (guarding treasure) and finds his true calling (saving and protecting the animals in his forest kingdom).
It was Modern’s hope that the book would be published and that all of the profits would go to children’s charities. I was Modern’s friend for many years, and he wrote the story on my computer, so I have the text. We found some of the artwork and many slides featuring the model of Sir Dragon among his possessions in his apartment after he passed away.
I would like to see “Sir Dragon’s Animal Kingdom” published as a posthumous tribute to my beloved friend, a chance for his other friends and fans to see some of his final artwork, as an inspiration to children to not be afraid to be themselves (which is the main message of the book), and possibly a chance to raise some funds in Modern’s name for a cause that he cared very deeply about.
I am a graphic designer and have experience in layout, design, and production of books. That’s why he worked with me on this project. I would like to see it through on his behalf. It would mean a great deal to me, to his family, and to fans of his work. Thank you for your time and consideration.
