For August 2025, AFRI is supporting "Writer’s Block," a community songwriting and professional development series created by and for BIPOC musicians in Providence. The program includes weekly open writing sessions and three key workshops: Songwriting for Sync, Artist Branding, and Music Business 101.

Writer’s Block reduces barriers by offering free, high-quality programming in an accessible venue (AS220). Participants receive payment for their contributions and leave with new work, new knowledge, and new connections. Their goal is "not only to help artists grow creatively and professionally, but to sustain and archive the cultural contributions of Rhode Island’s Black and Brown musicians."
