The Food Depot's COVID-19 Crisis Support

Hunger is a growing crisis in Northern New Mexico. It is often hidden, but it affects one of every six people and one of every four children in the state. The Food Depot, the food bank for Northern New Mexico, is ramping up its operations and food volume during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Food Depot continues to implement hunger relief operations throughout its nine-county service area. The food bank’s network of 145 partner nonprofit organizations continues to be supplied with food for distributions, direction on COVID-19 transmission prevention protocols, and sanitation supplies.

The Food Depot is escalating food acquisition through their network, primarily using bulk purchase and utilizing volunteer power to build bags/boxes of nonperishable staple foods. Staple food bags and fresh produce are then distributed to families at drive through food pantries.

For every $1 donated, The Food Depot provides four meals for those in need. The Awesome Foundation Santa Fe micro-grant of $1,000 will provide 4,000 meals!
