The Stained Glass Project of CultureTrust

The Stained Glass Project provides meaningful, community-centered arts education to high school students from across Philadelphia. As a free after-school program, we remove barriers to participation by offering all materials, instruction, transportation, and food at no cost. Students work alongside practicing artists and dedicated mentors to learn the craft of stained glass, developing technical skills, creative confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our impact extends far beyond the studio. Each student-created window is donated to a nonprofit, school, community center, or mission-driven organization in Philadelphia and beyond. These installations brighten public spaces, honor local histories, and strengthen the visual identity of the neighborhoods they serve. Students see firsthand how their creativity contributes to the well-being of others, fostering pride, purpose, and a deeper connection to their city.

We serve a diverse group of young people—many of whom lack access to robust arts programming—and provide a safe, consistent environment where they can explore their potential and build meaningful relationships. Through mentorship, collaboration, and service, The Stained Glass Project supports both individual growth and community enrichment, demonstrating the powerful role youth arts can play in shaping a more vibrant and connected Philadelphia.
