Our Awesome 2nd Annual Plein Aire Paint Out will be held in the Leeper Park Rose Garden on Thursday June 19, 2025. We expect 20 to 25 Artists from the local community, and surrounding areas, and as far away as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Warsaw, Goshen, Niles, and southern Michigan. We expect a significant regional draw, attracting visiting artists to the Garden. Those artists then return to their homes and sing the praises of the Awesome South Bend Parks to their friends and neighbors.
Our visitors to the event are encouraged to walk among the artists and learn about painting in the open air from the participants. This interaction with the artists makes the event a learning experience for our visitors, many of whom are students.
The artists will spend the entire day painting in the Rose Garden, and prizes are awarded at the end of the day.
Last year, local media covered the event, and this year the Garden will be filled with music from Kennedy's Kitchen. The Rose Garden has been designed by the volunteers as a place of beauty, peace and tranquility; and this event will continue that mission.
The entire community is invited to the lunch-time free concert., with special invitations being sent to neighboring households, surrounding the Park. More than 250 neighbors and community members are expected to attend.
In order to attract artists from all over the region, the Awesome Rose Garden volunteers provide a lunch for the artists, and the band, so they can spend the entire day making art.
