The Toronto Tamagotchi Club is an independent fan club that formed in December 2022 as a response to the "cultural crisis of loneliness" in a world newly post-quarantine. We are an all-ages community of Tamagotchi-lovers promoting analog connection through virtual pets. We have been regularly profiled across national news media for being delightful, and have inspired dozens other chapters internationally. In only 2 years, the Toronto Tamagotchi Club has grown to thousands of members, with free bimonthly meetups drawing an average of 100 guests. On June 8 2025, we are attempting to set the world record for the largest Tamagotchi wedding. Tamagotchi devices can marry in-game. This will be a mock wedding ceremony where guests are invited to wear wedding attire (including wedding dresses, tuxedos, and other cultural wedding garments) and “walk down the aisle” to marry off their Tamagotchis. Toronto Tamagotchi Club would like to complete this record to inspire real life friendships and invite wonder from players of all ages.

Our participant volume has exceeded the capacity of our donated venue space, and due to the amount of planning involved and involvement of international guests, we are hesitant to rely on a free outdoor alternative. We are seeking funding to rent local indoor space to support the weatherproof execution of this event.
