We want to start a community library for film and arts lovers/dreamers, especially to support education for those without the privilege of access to these resources or studies!

Since its reception in 2023, 195 Pearl's Hill Terrace #03-27 has been a space for people to commune around youth. We are focused on making cinema accessible for all, mutual aid, and learning through each other. After two years of absence whilst I was away taking care of my sick mother, we return now as a rebranded REPEAT OFFENCE with daily screenings to promote community and learning. It has been a privilege to be featured on CNA (https://www.channelnewsasia.com/today/up-close/up-close-student-filmmaker-rent-space-share-love-movies-4669356) and FZine (https://www.fzine.com/culture/indie-cinemas-singapore) for our efforts.

However, through my own collection and people's donations, we realise we have 900+ books clunked together in our old bookshelf. There are rare collections, programme booklets and notes, and expensive guides/academia about the film. We recognise that there is so much potential here to use the resources for greater community learning.

Hence, we are proposing to start a community library. By cataloguing all the titles we have, putting them on proper bookshelves that allows the books to be seen (as opposed to now where 70 books cram into a single shelf unit), and offering chairs inside and outside our space for anyone and EVERYONE to come read / borrow the books. We also intend to activate social media (e.g. Instagram): Since we do not intend to charge for the library (similar to our micro-cinema concept), we would like to invite each borrower to write key pointers, share summaries, and extract insights that we can share to others on social media. This way, circular sharing of knowledge is empowered and we can learn through and from each other. Down the road, we'd also be keen to start book clubs once our micro-cinema activities are kept sustainable.
