This September, we're supporting the Rhode Island Freedom Collective who plan to offer honoraria to 5–7 formerly incarcerated Rhode Islanders for sharing their lived experience as speakers and ambassadors. These individuals will represent the RIFC community on public panels, at legislative hearings, and during RI Freedom Collective community events, helping to shift narratives about incarceration and reentry.
Their work is building a sustainable pipeline of leaders who can speak truth to power, engage the public, and influence policymakers. It is a small but significant step in advancing their mission: ensuring that formerly incarcerated people are at the center of organizing efforts for justice and equity in Rhode Island.
