Hi! My name is Wendy, and I am helping develop our rapid response network here in Newburgh. The main goal is to protect our community and make sure that people are not taken without their due process. Rapid response means that if we get a call about a potential ICE sighting, we send volunteers out to investigate which helps us post verified sightings and refute fake rumors. We started up on July 4, 2025 and we have about 40 volunteers trained and ready to respond. We have responded to about 11 sightings. We are currently helping 1 family that has been affected by the main breadwinner being detained. We hope to keep expanding and recruit more volunteers and teach more community members what to do and how to be prepared.
