The Return of the Pink Florida Panther

Orlando-based mural company, A Pivotal Character Artworks, is seeking sponsors and financial support to fund the fabrication of a Florida Wildlife-centered exterior mural which will be located in a highly trafficked destination in north downtown Orlando, next to the iconic ORLANDO postcard mural (N. Orange Avenue & W. Colonial Drive).

This proposed project celebrates our state animal, the Florida Panther. However this panther is unique in that it is visually presented with a fun and playful twist... she’s pink! This is a reference to the famous Pink Panther cartoon of the 1960’s - of which still has a lasting cultural relevance. This concept presents a pink Florida Panther playfully stalking a yarn ball amidst the tall, wild grass of the Everglades.

Each day, this location attracts tourists to Downtown Orlando in order to take photos in front of the city lankmark that is the ORLANDO postcard mural. Similarly, this wall is also a common backdrop for locals to use for family photos,
engagement pictures, and even music videos. So it makes sense that any mural which shares this culturally significant wall space should also celebrate local Florida culture! Currently the wallspace is occupied by another mural (a small child sitting in front of a vintage television), however the property owner has already given permission to paint over the existing artwork on the left side, leaving the ORLANDO postcard mural untouched. In addition, the property owner has also agreed for this proposed mural to remain for a period of no less than three years, with a maximum of five years.
