English Language Learning Program

The Afro-American Development Association was founded in 2014 when a group of students in the Fargo-Moorhead area gathered to find ways to support their community of first generation immigrants and refugees. Today, the AADA supports approximately 520 individuals annually (averaging an 8% annual growth), helping them to find jobs, adjust to American culture, and improved themselves through education and opportunity.

One such program established is the English Language Learning Program to not only help new members develop their conversational and reading skills but connect them with local community members and volunteers. This program has proven to be an essential foundational step to all other areas of success, to live their best life in the United States.

Every Saturday and Sunday, from 4 to 8 pm, volunteers work one on one with learners to develop English as a second language and the variations necessary for successful conversation and acclimation. However, demand far outlays resources and the program is struggling.
