The Joyful Life Library

The Joyful Life Library Project currently sponsors 8 PICUs across the country, Kapiolani Children's Hospital being the most recent. The Library Project provides new books specifically to children in pediatric intensive care units.

We believe that reading a favorite story to a child is an act of love that's comforting to the child and the caregiver alike, and is especially important when life has been turned upside down because of a little one's hospitalization. We know the importance of being able to sit and read a book to your child, just like you would do at home, regardless of all the tubes and beeping machines.

Individuals are able to purchase books from our Amazon wishlists with the books being shipped directly to the hospital. We include both hard and soft cover books on our wish lists, as a way to cover the needs of all patients/families.Hard cover books are used in waiting areas, play rooms, and shared amongst patients by being brought to individual bedsides
for families to enjoy with their child. Soft cover books are used to bring comfort to children that cannot be exposed to germs carried by shared books. These less expensive books are given to those patients to keep as a special bedtime story of their own.
