For nearly 70 years, an abandoned public building at Allen & Delancey Streets has sat unused in the heart of the Lower East Side. Now, community organizer Myles Smutney is working to transform the forgotten space into a permanent Cultural Center for the neighborhood. Rather than waiting years for change, she wants to bring people together to imagine what’s possible now.

With support from Awesome NYC, attendees will gather at the site for a one-day outdoor activation- featuring art, live music, workshops, and collective visioning. For one day, what was once a beacon of urban decay will become vibrant again; centered around people, celebration, and the power to shape what this public space can become.
