Mothers Supporting Mothers: It Takes a Village

Mothers Supporting Mothers: It Takes a Village Baby Shower is a community-centered celebration for new and expecting mothers who would not otherwise be able to afford a baby shower. Hosted by Fathers and Mothers Who Care (FMWC), this event provides essential baby and maternal supplies while creating a joyful space for mothers to connect, feel celebrated, and build community.

Participants will receive baby clothing, diaper bags, diapers, wipes, and fully stocked hospital bags for mothers. The event will include food, games, and prizes to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Just as important, mothers will have the opportunity to bond with one another and connect with local resources, including healthcare providers, WIC, early childhood education programs, parenting classes, and mental health services.

This project is about more than material support — it’s about reminding mothers they are not alone. By bringing women together during a pivotal moment in their lives, we reduce isolation, foster peer support, and help build a village that extends beyond the event itself. With a small grant, we can create a meaningful, dignified, and joyful experience that strengthens families and uplifts our community.
