Ever imagined music made with the sounds of ice paired with installation ice that melts as you listen? That's the enchanting concept behind Strange Tundra! Inspired by the poetic melting of Arctic ice, sonic designer and composer Xxhe (me!) is creating a symphony of fleeting melodies from frozen water paired with interpretive live dance. I will transform ice into whimsical instruments, and sing their ephemeral songs that change and evolve as they gracefully melt, while local professional contemporary dancers lend their unique styles to create improv performances inspired by the sounds and the act of melting.

It's a beautiful conversation between sound and movement, where each dancer interprets the music in their own way, adding layers of visual poetry to the sonic landscape. We're even teaming up with brilliant climate scientists to turn ancient ice secrets into surprisingly beautiful tunes, while the dancers' movements echo the fragility and dynamism of our changing world. And the best part? - the water from these melting musical marvels will be used to nourish community gardens, creating a cycle of artistic and ecological renewal, all brought to life by the collaborative spirit of San Francisco artists.
