The Rideau Heights Community has the highest density of children living in low income homes. In the summer there is little free programming for our youth and most is on a registration basis. Last year we offered free drop in soccer for youth at Shannon Park and it was a huge success. We were able to waive the field fees and a few sundries. We used pylons for goals and made do with what we had. The youth that attended developed not only soccer skills but made new friends and developed conflict resolution skills as well as learning a positive outlet for their energies.
