The Awesome Foundation Disability Chapter was created by Tiffany Yu and Alice Wong, two disabled women of color, in April 2017 to spread awesomeness in the disability community. To date, we have awarded $83,500 to 84 grants in 11 countries and have received over 7,000 submissions. We know that there is a need for more access to funding in the disability community, with only about 2% of philanthropic dollars going to disability advocacy globally. All of our trustees identify as disabled, showing that disabled people are funders, decision-makers, and leaders. Over the years, we have had over 30 disabled people join us as trustees.
