Healing Justice Podcast is an audio project to democratize access to inspiring stories, leaders, and practices to support activists from the inside-out and outside-in. It's a story-mapping of the experiments of courageous and soulful change efforts already thriving all over the world, sowing connection between us to build more of the deeply committed community we long for.
These are times of extreme amplification -- of climate violence, white supremacy, patriarchy, political corruption, late-stage capitalism, xenophobia, anti-LGBTQ hate, and more. Our lives depend on our ability to make significant, urgent, dramatic change in our society.
But working to change the world while neglecting ourselves and our immediate communities depletes us and replicates patterns of trauma, trigger, harm, and extraction. And "being the change we wish to see in the world" doesn't sufficiently dismantle the structures that are systematically dehumanizing us all either.
My experience training organizers and building connection between healing justice practitioners nationwide for the past 3 years has shown me that many of us are hungering for community to support the integration of self care, collective care, commitment to challenging injustice, and powerful action. We need a place to share our stories and struggles to build trust and gain insight together, to strengthen the capacity for resilience in ourselves and in our collective movements for change.
Stories of resilience in the struggle and simple sustaining practice ideas are part of the medicine we long for, and this project aims to be a campfire around which we gather to share our victories, pain, innovations, and generative debates. We're starting with a podcast sharing a new story and practice each week and building toward convenings, training, and support networks for leaders wanting to incorporate healing into their activism.
