I’m organizing an event called a Latte Art Throwdown at Big Mouth Coffee Roasters in Newburgh. The event will showcase the skill, creativity, and craftsmanship of baristas in a fun and competitive environment, while bringing coffee professionals together to build community, encourage collaboration, and motivate one another to continue developing our skills.

The competition will follow a single-elimination bracket, with baristas going head-to-head in each round until one competitor is crowned the winner. Judges will create the bracket and evaluate each round based on the quality and creativity of the latte art.

I’ve already secured sponsorships and prizes from several fantastic companies, including Hudson Valley Fresh, Newburgh Brewing Company, La Marzocco, Minor Figures, and others. Their support has helped make this event possible, and I’m incredibly grateful to have these businesses involved.
At this point, the primary piece still needed is funding to help bring the event to life.

I’m expecting baristas and coffee professionals from across the Northeast to attend. Beyond being a competition, my goal is to create an event that strengthens the coffee community, gives local baristas an opportunity to connect with industry professionals from outside the area, and showcases Newburgh as a vibrant destination for coffee, creativity, and community.
With the right support, this can become more than just a one-night competition. It can be an event that brings people together, supports local businesses, celebrates the craft of coffee, and puts Newburgh on the map in a new and exciting way.
